What the video actually shows
In the 46-second Short, the creator points out poles beside the road heading toward Secret Beach after leaving a gas station. The 0:08–0:17 section shows the line of poles. Crossarms are visible, but an operating electricity supply cannot be verified from the footage.
In an October 12 written update, Secret Beach Homes places the activity near the main turn beyond the new gas station, at the eastern end of the road toward Secret Beach. That location description comes from the creator; it is not a surveyed construction map. The creator also sells homes and land, so its predictions about prices should be read as commercial opinion.

Ambergris Today’s October 15 report also notes the absence of a project cost and completion date. Breaking Belize News covered the partnership that day. These reports cover the same announcement; they are not separate confirmations that homes already have grid power.
Why this matters for Secret Beach
For a beach restaurant, power affects the practical details of the day: refrigeration, kitchen equipment and lighting. For a home, it is part of planning construction and everyday use. A utility extension is therefore a meaningful development to follow, even while individual connection arrangements remain unresolved.
Ambergris Today reports the agencies’ expected benefits: less reliance on generators, reduced generator noise and operating expense, and better lighting that could support evening business. These are intended outcomes, not measurements of savings already achieved.
It may also change how some buyers evaluate land. That is an interpretation, not a price forecast: road access, title, elevation, land preparation and the availability of service to the exact parcel still matter. Poles nearby do not demonstrate a guaranteed increase in a lot’s value.
What owners and prospective buyers can do now
Ask BEL about the specific parcel and proposed electrical load before changing a building budget. Useful questions include whether the planned line serves that location, whether an extension is needed, who pays for it, and what inspections and timing apply.
BEL’s new-meter guidance describes application and electrician requirements and says some installations need a customer contribution for additional infrastructure. Its large-project guidance calls for early contact so the company can design the supply and provide a quotation and timeline. Neither page is a Secret Beach connection offer.
Keep an existing solar, battery or generator plan in place until an actual connection is confirmed. An electrician should assess any proposed combination of grid supply and existing equipment. Electricity work also does not, by itself, establish water or sewer service.
A separate project for the island’s wider supply
The Millennium Challenge Corporation’s Belize Compact includes a planned high-voltage submarine cable from the mainland to Ambergris Caye. That concerns the island’s upstream supply. The Secret Beach extension concerns local distribution. They are different projects, and the cable plan is not a date for connecting Secret Beach lots.
Follow the evidence
The important development is a visible line of poles followed by an official expansion announcement. The next useful milestones will be published coverage, connection requirements and energization details. This report reflects sources checked on October 16, 2026; it does not report that electricity is already available throughout Secret Beach.
