Restaurant
π Placencia, Belize

The Galley was recommended by all the locals and native Belizeans that weren't necessarily from Placencia. I understand why because the flavors beat every other restaurant I went to in Placencia and that is a high mark! The chef, I believe, Ms. Dawn, understands flavor profiles. From the creole flavored fish I had to the balsamic vinegarette for the salad, to the pork chops my friend had. No sauce wasted, you just mix the rice and potatoes with it! This is the only restaurant that had their own hot sauce even though Marie Sharpe hot sauce is tasty. I feel like the serving portions are a little bigger here. Even though it's slightly off the main road I felt safe and it's totally worth it to go check the Galley out.

Nice off the beaten path place. Fully screened in so not many bugs while still eating outdoors. We had lobster and barracuda and both were delicious.

This was our first time to Belize. On our last night in Placencia Village we stumbled upon the Galley. Itβs not on the Main road but is behind the soccer field. This was our most favorite meal we had all week. I had grilled shrimp and my husband had grilled lobster. Both were very large portions and delicious. The homemade chutney served with the shrimp was lovely. I highly recommend the Galley if you tire of bar food or want a great meal in a pleasant atmosphere.

So far this week we have had very mixed results with some highly recommended restaurants. The Galley last night was not a mixed result. We had reservations at 7:00 although they were a little bit late and opening our table it was well worth it. Mama Dawn and her niece Amanda did a great job in making sure we were well taken care of before we sat down making sure we had drinks and felt comfortable, Mama Dawn actually went upstairs to her flat and made coffee for one of our guests. The food came out in a timely manner and everybody was very very happy with the results. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody but I would also suggest reservations as they are busy

Food was very good as well as friendly service. If you stay in the village you can walk there. We drove 25 minutes to find this restaurant and parking was tricky. Cracked conch appetizer was good, but Creole conch was amazing. Lobster tail was cooked well.
