Everything is very expensive, the beach is full of sargassum, you can't swim.

A disaster! Dirty, strange, no beach, European prices. Not even worth going. A beautiful island???

5/10 I guess it's called the beautiful island for a reason... however, for me it was the ugly island, maybe because of the time of year. What I liked was a new hotel where I stayed, a popular seafood restaurant, an iguana enclosure with Rastafarians, and Secret Beach. I didn't like the sargassum, the green weeds, the prices, the streets, or the beach. If you're coming from Chetumal, you'll spend about 3,000 pesos just for the water taxi ride and leaving Belize. Although, if you have a passport that says you were born in Chetumal, they don't charge you. I call it Swamp Caulker and San Pedro de Zargazolandia. I understand the sargassum can't be controlled, but the streets have been neglected for years, and prices are about three times higher than in Mexico at the corner stores. I spent about 300 pesos for some cookies, chips, and drinks. I wouldn't go back even if it were free. I was disappointed, and on top of that, the female officers behind the counter at customs scolded me, charged me to use the bathroom, and I think I experienced racism like never before... I almost cried when I returned to Chetumal and they treated me well, with good facilities and free bathrooms. I went to Guatemala, and they treated me well there too.
