Traveller's Maya Juice: Rum Tasting

We stopped by on a whim for a rum tasting with Edgar and got to try 8 different rums, all amazing! Give the hot sauce a try too! Edgar was a wealth of knowledge on everything to do in San Ignacio, great to chat with him!

Abram gave us a delightful dual tour that far exceeded our expectations. Both the rum tasting (seven different spirits) and the hot sauce and jam tasting (two dozen products) were intellectually stimulating and fun.

We stumbled upon this rum tasting while looking to try out Marie Sharp’s hot sauces. Jorge is a really friendly guy who clearly loves both Belizean culture and rum. The tasting costs 15US$ and is well worth it. We tried so many different types, more than we even knew existed! He was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. We highly recommend a visit!

You will be surprised by the amount of Travellers rum there is! We had 5 generous tastes and barely sampled the rum, brandy and others on offer. Great host and actually a good rum learning experience. I had been to belize on 2 previous occasions but still tried some new stuff. Well recommended.

We were one of the first guests; it having been open for a week. This place did rum tasting for $8 USD, and that got you like 5 half shots to taste. Overall, it was a really great experience. You got some good conversation with the guy doing it, and he said they were still adjusting the formula to being a better tour… either way it seemed like a decent local business to be supporting!
